Britannia Mine Museum

Britannia Mine Museum is an award-winning museum that offers engaging tours and exhibits for the public along with school programs that provide accurate and hands-on classroom activities for thousands of school children each year. Often the Museum is the first introduction to the modern mining story and other programming related to minerals and mineral extraction. The Museum is a registered charity and is able to operate through ticket sales, memberships and donations.

Britannia Mine Museum is a non-profit society that inspires the exploration of individual and societal connections to British Columbia’s mining; its past, present and future.

Less than a hundred years ago, the Britannia Mine Museum was the largest copper mine in the British Empire. Today, it’s a National Historic Site and a bustling, award-winning Museum. The Museum is an exciting and adventurous outing that lets you experience the captivating nature of British Columbia’s mining history! Ride the underground train. Pan for gold at the Pavilion. Gaze at our beautiful collection of minerals while learning about life in Britannia Beach.
