Geometallurgy is an integrated approach to characterizing ore body variability. It includes rock characterization wrt processing effectiveness including comminution (crushing, grinding), liberation, recovery and environmental management. This quantitative, spatially constrained information can be incorporated into 3-D models and mine planning activities, ideally to attribute each block with multiple parameters and assign dollar value. Key outcomes are reduced technical risk, improved forecasting, enhanced economic optimization and fewer environmental concerns.
Who should attend:
This short course is an essential first step for geologists looking to introduce themselves to a range of techniques that enhance the collection of geological information that is relevant to geometallurgy. It will include industry case studies, presentations from experts and emphasize the use of tools to systematically collect data.
