SolGold will highlight the drilling results and geology of the Eocene Alpala porphyry copper-gold deposit, recently discovered in the under-explored northern section of the richly endowed Andean Copper Belt. The maiden mineral resource estimate (3 January, 2018) includes 1.08 billion tonnes at 0.68% Cu equivalent, using a cut-off of 0.3% Cu equivalent, for 5.2 million tonnes of copper (11.4 billion pounds Cu) and 12.3 million ounces of gold. The deposit remains open in most directions.
Dr. Steve Garwin has over 29 years of experience as an exploration geologist and is one of the leading authorities on porphyry, epithermal and Carlin‐style mineralization in the circum‐Pacific region. He previously worked with Newmont Mining for ten years, including two years as Chief Geologist in Nevada, USA. He has been involved with several exploration and mining projects including the Batu Hijau copper-gold porphyry deposit in Indonesia; and mines of the Carlin Trend and Battle Mountain district in Nevada. Steve has been instrumental in the recognition of mineralisation at Alpala.
