- 1972-1985: Research geologist, Saskatchewan Geological Survey.
- 1985-1998: Head, Geochemistry Research Section, and research scientist – GSC Ottawa.
- 1998-present: Independent consulting geochemist (Vancouver Island) for major and junior exploration companies, government agencies and international research organizations.
For 38 years he has focused on developing biogeochemical methods applied to mineral exploration. He lectures and is involved in projects worldwide, and has published more than 250 papers and a textbook ‘Biogeochemistry in Mineral Exploration’. He is recipient of the Association of Applied Geochemists’ Gold Medal for 2014.
