Danielle Smyth is a Regional Project Director with the Major Mine Permitting Office, Ministry of Energy Mines and Petroleum Resources. Prior to joining the Provincial government, Danielle served as Executive Director with the BC Centre of Training Excellence in Mining and Manager of Northwest Community College’s School of Exploration & Mining.

Throughout her diverse career Danielle has worked in environmental and natural resources fields in the private sector, public sector and education. As an avid volunteer Danielle has served as a member of the BC HR Task Force: Exploration, Mining, Stone, Sand & Gravel, Director with the Smithers Exploration Group and Chair of the 2016 Minerals North Conference.

Danielle graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in 2005 and from the University of Northern British Columbia with a Master of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies in 2009.

Danielle calls Smithers home and in her time off she enjoys exploring the mountains of northern BC including mountain biking, skiing and trail running with her dog Bandit.
