David Edwards is Geology Manager for the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines and Zijin Mining. Mr. Edwards started at the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Project in 2008 as project geologist and was part of the Kamoa exploration team that received the 2015 Thayer Lindsley Award, which recognizes an individual or a team of explorationists credited with a recent significant mineral discovery anywhere in the world. Prior to joining the Kamoa Project, Mr. Edwards worked for African Mining Consultants who were subcontracted by Ivanplats. Ivanplats changed its name to Ivanhoe Mines in 2013. Prior to working in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mr. Edwards was employed with Axmin Inc., primarily focused on Archean greenstone gold projects in Central African Republic and Sierra Leone. He is a graduate from Camborne School of Mines (University of Exeter).
