Vice President Exploration & Development, NexGen Energy Ltd.
Garrett Ainsworth is the Vice President Exploration and Development for NexGen Energy Ltd. Since joining NexGen in 2014, Mr. Ainsworth has been instrumental in the expansion of NexGen’s Arrow Uranium Deposit, and multiple high-grade uranium discoveries on the Rook I property in the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan.
Prior to NexGen, Mr. Ainsworth was co-recipient of the AME BC Colin Spence Award (For Excellence in Global Mineral Exploration) in 2013. This honour was in recognition of his efforts which led to the discovery of the high-grade uranium mineralized system on the Patterson Lake South Project in the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan. He was the Project Manager and oversaw the staking of new claims, the discovery of a high-grade boulder field, the initial high-grade uranium drill hole discovery at the R00E zone, and drill discoveries of the near-surface R390E and R780E high-grade zones.
Early career experience includes exploration on gold projects in British Columbia, Nevada, and Mexico; and a diamond project in West Africa. Mr. Ainsworth also worked as an environmental consultant on a variety of industrial and mining projects from 2002 to 2007.
Mr. Ainsworth’s academic background includes a Diploma of Technology in Mining and Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Engineering with honours from BCIT, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology with first class honours from Birkbeck, University of London.
