Gary Delaney, Ph.D., P. Geo., is Chief Geologist, Saskatchewan Geological Survey (SGS), Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economy. The SGS is responsible for investigating and documenting the geology of Saskatchewan to facilitate the responsible exploration for and development of the Province’s rich and diverse mineral and petroleum resources. Prior to joining the Government of Saskatchewan, in1986, Dr. Delaney, whose areas of expertise include Proterozoic stratigraphy and sedimentology, as well as economic geology, worked for Cominco Ltd undertaking base metal mineral exploration in southeastern BC and adjoining parts of the United States. During his time as Chief Geologist, Dr. Delaney has fostered a robust innovative geosciences program that has garnered praise from industry active in Saskatchewan’s mineral and petroleum sectors.
