Dr. Herman Grütter (Ph.D., P. Geo.) has 29 years of experience in the diamond industry and is a recognized expert in assessing the economic and development potential of kimberlite provinces. After 12 early-career years with De Beers in South Africa and Canada, he spent 4 years with Mineral Services Canada as Principal Consultant and worked on diamond projects from around the globe. From 2005 to 2012 he was Commodity Specialist (Diamonds) and assessed opportunities to grow BHP Billiton’s diamond business by exploration or acquisition. He joined Peregrine Diamonds in early 2014 and is primarily focussed on the development of economic resources within the Chidliak kimberlite field. He received a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of Cape Town in 1986 and a Ph. D. in Geology from the University of Cambridge in 1993. Dr. Grütter is the first author of several industry-leading publications that relate kimberlitic indicator minerals to diamonds.
