New Geoscience: Research and Knowledge for Exploration
JoAnne Nelson is Senior Project Geologist and Northern BC Manager with the BC Geological Survey, where she has been working as a field geologist for 30 years. She holds a B.Sc. from the University of Washington (1973) and a M.Sc. from the University of British Columbia (1976). Prior to joining the BC Geological Survey, she worked in the exploration industry for 7 years. Her focus is on geological mapping and related studies aimed at solving tectonic and metallogenetic puzzles of the northern Canadian Cordillera. Her projects have ranged from the Rocky Mountains through the inner accreted terranes (Yukon-Tanana, Quesnellia, Stikinia) to the Insular terranes of the coast. Her current project involves structural and geochronological studies of the Mesozoic porphyry belt of the Golden Triangle.
