Chief Geologist, Gold Standard Ventures
John Norby has extensive Nevada exploration experience, including designing and executing exploration and resource delineation/expansion programs for Newmont Mining, Placer Dome, Barrick Gold, and Victoria Gold. At Newmont, Mr. Norby managed exploration of the central Carlin Trend, where his group delineated additional resources at the Mike deposit and contributed to the expansion of the Gold Quarry deposit. At Placer Dome and Barrick, Mr. Norby led teams that drilled new mineralization along the Pipeline trend of deposits at Cortez, drilled out a gold structure at the Ruby Hill deposit, and more than doubled the Spring Valley deposit resource. At Victoria, he helped design the successful drill expansion of the Helen high-grade gold zone at the Cove deposit. He also led teams that drilled early holes at the large Aktigiruk zinc-lead sedimentary exhalative deposit in the Red Dog district in Alaska (Teck), and at the Rattlesnake Hills alkaline gold deposit in Wyoming (Newmont). John obtained his Master of Science in geology from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and a Bachelor of Arts in environmental science, geology concentration, from the University of Virginia.
