Sam Adkins is the Aboriginal Relations Manager for LNG Canada. Sam is also a lawyer and was formerly a partner in the Vancouver office of McCarthy Tetrault LLP focused on the mining, energy and natural resource sectors. Sam has extensive experience on aboriginal related matters in the development of resource projects in British Columbia and across Canada.
In his role with LNG Canada, Sam is responsible for managing the development of strategies and implementation plans for aboriginal relations and consultation, benefits agreement negotiations and implementation, relationship building, and Aboriginal contracting and employment for the LNG Canada project in Kitimat, British Columbia. Sam also provides legal advice to LNG Canada on a wide-range of aboriginal, commercial and regulatory matters.
Prior to joining LNG Canada, Sam was a partner in the business law group of McCarthy Tetrault. Sam advised clients in the resource sector on commercial and regulatory matters, in particular clients in the mining sector. A significant portion of his practice was focused on providing advice on aboriginal law issues, including the consultation process and the negotiation of agreements with aboriginal groups.
