Many companies are now collecting high quality near-complete digest 4-acid ICPMS and whole rock XRF lithogeochemical data as a routine mineral exploration data set. These data can be used to map lithology, recognise and quantify alteration, vector towards mineralization in ore deposits as well as provide information important for mining and mineral processing.

In this course, participants will learn various approaches for getting the most value from their lithogeochemical data. It will cover concepts and approaches for including the pros and cons of various lab methods, data interpretation including element ratio analysis, interpreting and quantifying alteration from lithogeochemical data, chemostratigraphy, and lithogeochemical classification based on compositional data.

Top takeaways:

  1. Pros and cons for various lithogeochemical laboratory methods
  2. Learn how to robustly interpret lithogeochemical data
  3. Predict mineralogy from geochemistry
  4. Classify your rocks using compositional data
  5. Hands-on datasets, and introduction to geochemical data software tools (commercial and open-source)
