The mineral exploration and mining industry is going through a rapid evolution in how geological and environmental data are collected and used. Increasingly, sustainability and ethical practices are playing a key role in how exploration and mining projects are undertaken, and now recognized as being directly connected to the geological and geographical characteristics of projects where geoscientists play a critical role. Developers and explorers are adapting and evolving their practices to an ever-changing landscape with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) at the forefront. This has led to a ripple effect throughout all development and exploration stages. How does a company factor in the economics of CO2 emission regulations on their project? How is ESG factored into the economics of exploration and development? This Theme Session “Engage. Connect. Evolve.” will showcase the way companies at the forefront are leading the way and adapting to an ever evolving landscape.
