Project Management Toolbox for Exploration Programs (SC6)

Virtual / Tickets Required

Ron Voordouw, Partner and Director of Geoscience, Equity
Thomas Branson, Senior Project Geologist, Equity

Successful management of exploration programs requires a diverse set of skills and tools. In this course, which is aimed at mid-level professionals who are leading or keen to lead exploration programs, we discuss how best to go about preparing for an exploration program and manage in-field exploration work. Attendees will be shown how to quantify the scope of their program and generate cost estimates. Key parts of the regulatory process will be discussed, including permitting, health and safety systems, and community engagement. Other pre-field components will include human resource needs, including the responsibilities of various roles, as well as requesting and evaluating subcontractor proposals (e.g. drilling, helicopter, geophysics). The latter part of the course will focus on management of field operations, including real-time budget tracking and projections, camp and drill management, and conflict resolution.
The aim of the course is to have attendees gain a better understanding of the scope of mineral exploration management, and the tools required to manage such programs as efficiently as possible.
