Janine Bedford

Principal of Social Performance, Newcrest Canada.

Janine Bedford is the Principal of Social Performance for Newcrest Canada. She has spent the past 15 years’ working with indigenous and remote communities across North America on issues related to mining, social and economic development, traditional land use, and capacity development. Prior to joining Newcrest Canada, Ms. Bedford was the Community Relations lead at the Red Dog mine in Northwest Alaska for Teck Resources.

She holds a Joint Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from Simon Fraser University and a Masters of Research from St. Andrews University in Scotland. She has led and participated in engagement and consultation with over 120 communities across North America for various mining and energy clients, provincial and federal governments as well as indigenous governments. Janine is Cree-Norwegian and is passionate about working with indigenous communities.
