Senior VP Exploration, Orezone Gold Corporation
Pascal F. Marquis is currently the Senior VP Exploration for Orezone Gold Corporation. He earned a Ph.D. in 1990 for his study of Agnico-Eagle’s LaRonde gold mine, Abitibi, Quebec. He was fortunate to be part of discovery and developer teams all around the world exploring for commodities like uranium (Athabasca and Otish Basins), diamonds (Limpopo) and gold (Abitibi, Southern Africa, Western Australia, Argentina and West Africa).
Since 2009, Pascal has designed cost-effective protocols to acquire good quality geochemical data using portable XRF units. The geochemical data has been used to unravel the complex lithostructural history that is typical of many orogenic gold deposits. The collection and interpretation of the data has been particularly effective in weathered, tropical environments where oxidized material types can be a key economic driver for mineral exploration projects.
