Dr. Johnston is an economic geologist with more than 30 years of international experience in the mining industry, devoting much of his career to the exploration and development of porphyry copper and epithermal gold deposits. He was appointed Vice President of Exploration for Element 29 Resources Inc. in February 2021. Prior to joining Element 29, Paul was Chief Geologist for Globetrotters Resource Group Inc., where he was focussed on generating and advancing copper and gold projects in Peru. He began his career as a mine geologist at the Hemlo gold deposit with Noranda in 1987 and later joined the exploration group at Teck Resources where he accumulated extensive international experience in early to advanced stage exploration through a variety of technical and management roles globally, including Regional Chief Geoscientist for South America. Paul is Professional Geoscientist registered in British Columbia and holds a MSc and PhD from Queen’s University and obtained a BSc from Carleton University. He currently serves as an independent director at Nicola Mining Inc., and is a technical advisor for Forte Minerals Corp. and Pacific Empire Minerals Corp.
