Ray retired from the British Columbia Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources Geological Survey Branch (BCGS), Victoria, BC, in 2010 after 20 years as a geochemist. Before joining the BCGS Ray worked from 1970 to 1979 as geologist/geochemist with Amax Exploration, Fox Geological and BP Minerals, Vancouver then from 1980 to 1990 as chief geochemist for Barringer Research, Toronto. Since 2010 Ray has published the results of his research into geothermal and soil-gas geochemistry and, as a University of Victoria (UVIC) School of Earth & Ocean Science (SEOS), sessional lecturer has taught undergraduate geochemistry and economic geology courses. He is a SEOS, Visiting Scientist and a BC Geological Survey Emeritus.
