Sean McColl is a climber from North Vancouver who has competed in sport climbing since the age of ten. When Sport Climbing was added to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Sean and his sport made history with their Olympic debut.
Sean dominated sport climbing in Canada as a junior athlete. He claimed five world youth titles, an unprecedented feat. In the senior ranks, Sean is a four-time overall World Champion, has won five World Cup events, over 10 International masters and has an astonishing 34 World Cup Medals. Sean also competed on the TV show American Ninja Warrior: USA vs. The World; on the educational side, Sean has a Computer Science degree with Honours from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Sean currently serves on the International Federation of Sport Climbing’s board as the Vice-President after being President from 2012-2021. Through countless presentations to the International Olympic Committee, Sean led the charge as athlete representative for climbing’s inclusion at the Olympic Games. Sean is thrilled to continue representing Sport Climbing on the global stage and pushing for its permanent inclusion in the Olympics program.
