Shannon Wilson is Tahltan, from the Crow Clan. She is a mother of 3 daughters, and proud grandmother of three grandchildren. Her role of Community Investment Coordinator, part of the Social Performance team at Red Chris, acts as a bridge between the communities in the Tahltan Territory and the mine. Her Tahltan heritage and lived experience in the Tahltan communities, along with her extensive accounting experience, offers Red Chris a unique set of skills to identify and manage community investment initiatives. She remains integral to the management of the Red Chris allotment from the Newcrest Community Investment Fund, originally established to provide support to local communities during the pandemic, as well as other community investment initiatives.
Shannon started in mining with NovaGold, expecting just a one-year temporary role. Fifteen years later, she is blessed to be able to work with her two daughters at Red Chris, now majority owned and solely operated by Newcrest Mining, in her home Territory. She would like to acknowledge that she will be joining Roundup on the traditional and unceded Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil Waututh People.
