DESCRIPTION:
This in-person, hands-on workshop provides an introduction to the SimPEG open-source project, a unified Python framework for geophysical modelling and inversion developed by researchers worldwide. Participants will work with a range of geophysical datasets and explore SimPEG’s current capabilities within Geoscience ANALYST Pro Geophysics, software developed by Mira Geoscience.
Who should attend:
Geophysicists interested in learning how to apply SimPEG for geophysical modelling and inversion.
Basic familiarity with Geoscience ANALYST is preferred but not required.
Prepare for the workshop:
Participants who are new to Geoscience ANALYST can use Mira Geoscience’s public Learning Hub on YouTube to get up to speed before attending.
Explore the Geoscience ANALYST Learning Hub playlist for introductory videos and tutorials.
Training licenses:
Complimentary training licenses will be provided by Mira Geoscience for the duration of the course, plus several additional days, giving participants an opportunity to practice the exercises and reinforce what they have learned.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Import and preprocess geophysical data
- Create electromagnetic (EM) data objects
- Define and assign data uncertainties
- Create octree meshes
- Run SimPEG forward-modelling and inversion workflows
- Apply SimPEG capabilities within Geoscience ANALYST Pro Geophysics
