Key Battery Minerals: Unlocking Metallurgical Innovations & Insights

Meeting Room 13
Ticket Required
Saturday, January 24
8:00am – 4:30pm

Presented by: SGS

Metallurgical testwork is a cornerstone of risk mitigation throughout the entire project life cycle. As the world has embraced advancing decarbonization and climate change targets, critical minerals are more vital in the move to electromobility, energy storage, defense and hi-tech applications than ever before.  When projects evolve, metallurgical testing provides critical data on the behavior of ore and mineral resources, guiding process design, de risking technical challenges, and supporting investment decisions.

This workshop will review the key metallurgical test programs required for critical minerals including lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite and REEs at different stages of a mining project, highlighting the core unit operations typically evaluated in feasibility studies.

With over 80 years of experience, SGS delivers bankable metallurgical expertise across the mining life cycle, from bench scale testing and pilot trials to process audits, modeling, due diligence reviews, and risk assessments. Our experts continue to innovate. We have grown our capabilities in critical minerals to lead the market in project development for critical minerals. As we continue to work closely with our clients, our deep understanding of metallurgical testwork, pilot plant testing and process development has allowed us to collaborate with industry stakeholders to build long-term solutions in the race to net-zero.

Through practical case studies from Canada and around the world, this short course will illustrate how metallurgical data and insights shape process design, define engineering criteria, and support sustainable, value driven project development.

The session will also focus on market trends, pricing, exploration trends and other drivers for each commodity covered.
