This intensive one-day short course introduces the fundamental principles and practical workflows of implicit geological modelling using Leapfrog Geo for mineral exploration and mining applications. Participants will learn how geological data can be integrated to build robust three-dimensional models, generate accurate geological boundaries and contacts, and efficiently update interpretations as new information becomes available. The course also explores techniques and tools that help geoscientists evaluate and improve geological continuity, supporting the development of more consistent and geologically realistic interpretations.

It covers core modelling concepts, surface generation techniques, advanced control methods for refining geological interpretations, and approaches for modelling complex structures and vein systems. Through instructor-led demonstrations and hands-on exercises, attendees will gain practical knowledge and skills to create high-quality geological models that support exploration targeting, resource evaluation, and mine planning.

This course is presented by geologists who have extensive industry experience in addition to capital markets experience. It is a two-day course and will offer an introduction to capital markets to anyone interested in the connection between corporate finance and mining. Attendees will also be given a hands-on introduction to cash flow models and the opportunity to evaluate a project quantitatively using NPV and present their opinion.

Part one will introduce attendees to the financial side of the exploration and mining industries. This includes an overview of capital markets, sell-side and buy-side, equity research, investment banking, and M&A. We will discuss the various financial firms that link capital with companies, such as brokerages, conventional banks, alternative banks, private equity, advisory firms and exempt market dealers; plus the numerous forms of financings they offer.

Part two will be focused on project valuation using various valuation methods, with a focus on NPV, Net Smelter Revenue, and cash flow modelling. This will involve group work where each is assigned fictional projects to complete as a valuation exercise. If time permits, we will include valuation of royalties and streaming transactions.

Description:
This in-person, hands-on workshop provides an introduction to the SimPEG open-source project, a unified Python framework for geophysical modelling and inversion developed by researchers worldwide. Participants will work with a range of geophysical datasets and explore SimPEG’s current capabilities within Geoscience ANALYST Pro Geophysics, software developed by Mira Geoscience.

Who should attend:
Geophysicists interested in learning how to apply SimPEG for geophysical modelling and inversion.
Basic familiarity with Geoscience ANALYST is preferred but not required.

Prepare for the workshop:
Participants who are new to Geoscience ANALYST can use Mira Geoscience’s public Learning Hub on YouTube to get up to speed before attending.

Training licenses:
Complimentary training licenses will be provided by Mira Geoscience for the duration of the course, plus several additional days, giving participants an opportunity to practice the exercises and reinforce what they have learned.

This course will deliver a dynamic and practical exploration of impact benefit agreements (IBAs) and equity participation structures in the Canadian mining sector, focusing on how these instruments are evolving to reflect a new era of partnership and shared ownership in mining projects.

Participants will examine the shifting legal, regulatory, and industry forces reshaping how benefit agreements are negotiated and structured in the mining context, and will come away with practical strategies for developing IBAs that are meaningful, implementable, and built to grow with the project. Drawing on real-world mining scenarios, participants will work through the complex considerations that arise across the mine lifecycle, including governance, risk allocation, regulatory approvals, and the practical realities of building relationships grounded in trust and mutual benefit.

The course will also go beyond impact benefit frameworks to provide a practical, ground-level introduction to equity ownership. Participants will be walked through the key stages of deal structuring, from memorandums of understanding and term sheets through to shareholders’ agreements and long-term financing arrangements, and will develop an understanding of the due diligence process, including how to evaluate a prospective project partner, assess project viability, and identify key risks before committing to an equity position. The course will cover deal structuring fundamentals across partnership structures such as limited partnerships, corporations, and joint ventures, as well as how to finance Indigenous equity participation. Participants will also explore strategies for protecting equity returns and will come away with practical guidance on avoiding common pitfalls such as misaligned strategies, rushed decision-making, and exclusivity and confidentiality traps.

This short course provides a practical overview of the transition from the current Mineral Titles Online (MTO) system to the modernized MTO2 system being developed by the Province of British Columbia for release in 2027. The session focuses on what is changing within the software, including the transition from standalone transactions to integrated workflows, improvements to system functionality, and the overall user experience. Participants will see how key processes, such as claim registration, maintenance, and reporting, will work in MTO2, with direct comparisons to the current system. Designed for industry users, consultants, free miner certificate holders, recorded holders, and agents, this course will help participants understand what to expect from MTO2, how their day-to-day interactions with the system may change, and how to prepare for the transition.

The Precious Metals session aims to support and inspire explorers on their journey from discovery to production, showcasing evolving and established precious metal-rich projects and operations.
