Todd is the President and CEO of the Association for Mineral Exploration BC (“AME”). His strong advocacy for the role of mineral exploration in British Columbia’s economy is driven by his broad public and private sector experience and leadership.
Todd’s background in government and public affairs includes serving as MLA for Kamloops-South Thompson for almost 12 years, and holding cabinet portfolios of Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Minister Responsible for Emergency Management, and Deputy Government House Leader. During his time in office, Stone was recognized and respected for his results-focused and thoughtful approach that helped shape many successful public policies and programs that the province benefits from today.
Prior to being elected for the first time in 2013, Todd was Founder, President and CEO of iCompass Technologies. Here, he built and mentored a strong team to create cutting-edge tech solutions for hundreds of local government and other public sector organizations across Canada and the United States.

Tom McCulley
Chief Technical Officer, Anglo AmericanAs Chief Technical Officer, Tom leads Anglo American’s global technical disciplines from Discovery and Geosciences through to Processing, as well as critical Safety, Health, and Environment work. He also has responsibility for Anglo American’s Crop Nutrients business which includes the development of the Woodsmith polyhalite mine in the UK. Prior to his current role, Tom led the successful development and commissioning of the world-class Quellaveco copper project in Peru. Tom previously held several senior global roles at Newmont, having begun his career at Fluor.
David Thornton
Managing Director, Americas, NewmontDavid Thornton is the Managing Director of Newmont’s Americas business unit.
Dave has more than 20 years of mining sector experience with a demonstrated track record of delivering safe operational performance in surface and predominantly underground mining operations.
Dave joined Newmont in May 2016 as Mining Manager for Leeville and was promoted to General Manager of the Carlin Underground mines in February 2017 before being promoted to Vice President Operations – Canada and USA in 2019.
Before joining Newmont, Dave spent 11 years with Gold Fields in Australia, where he held a variety of engineering and leadership roles.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from the Curtin University Western Australian School of Mines and an Executive MBA from the University of Utah.
Anne Thompson
President, PetraScience Consultants Inc.Anne Thompson is the host of the SEG Discovery to Recovery Podcast. She has thirty-five years’ experience working in mineral exploration, from field work to applied mineralogy and was an early adopter of field spectroscopy. Co-editor of the Atlas of Alteration, a resource for geologists and a WIMUK Global 100 Inspirational Woman in Mining 2020.

Sarai was born in Vancouver, British Columbia as the son of Sikh immigrant parents from Punjab, India. He completed his undergraduate degree in political science at the University of British Columbia and complimented this with a law degree at Queen’s University. After his studies, he began practicing law before transitioning into politics.
Throughout his career, he has been deeply focused on supporting initiatives that enhance the quality of life for underserved communities. His passion for community service is reflected through co-founding Virsa – Supporting Youth Strengthening Families Society, supporting community crime prevention initiatives, raising funds to combat polio and in helping build a local temple and organizing food drives.

Mr. Gupta is an accomplished mining executive, professional geologist and investment banker who brings nearly two decades of mining industry expertise and capital markets experience to his role as VP Operations at Eagle Energy. He has previously served, and continues to serve, in C-suite positions at several mining companies with exposure to various commodities including precious metals, base metals, battery metals and energy metals. Mr. Gupta has also worked as an investment banker and equity research analyst covering the mining sector for a number of financial institutions, including Dundee Capital Markets, Cormark Securities, Fraser Mackenzie, Desjardins Securities, ArcStone Securities and Global Financial. His work in capital markets has primarily focused on independent technical due diligence, M&A advisory, corporate finance advisory and comprehensive valuation analysis on a wide variety of resource projects and mining corporations across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. Mr. Gupta holds a Master of Science degree in Geology from the University of Toronto and is registered as a P.Geo. with the Professional Geoscientists of Ontario. His technical expertise, deep understanding of the metals and mining sector, and extensive capital markets experience, make Mr. Gupta a valuable asset for the corporation.
John Crowther
Commissioner, Alaska Department of Natural ResourcesJohn Crowther is Commissioner-designee of Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources. He’s held multiple roles within DNR since 2012, most recently as Deputy Commissioner, and has served under 8 other commissioners. John leads a dedicated staff of 900 full-time and about 300 seasonal employees in the department’s mission to develop, conserve and maximize the use of Alaska’s natural resources consistent with the public interest. DNR encompasses divisions as varied as Agriculture, Forestry, Geological & Geophysical Surveys, Mining, Land & Water, Oil & Gas, and Parks & Outdoor Recreation.
Earlier in his public service career, John was Director of the Governor’s Washington, D.C. office as well as a staffer on the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Dartmouth College and law degree from Georgetown University.

Chief Bertha Rabesca-Zoe
Chief, Chief of Behchokǫ̀Chief Bertha Rabesca-Zoe is the first Tłı̨chǫ lawyer and a long-time advocate for Tłı̨chǫ self-government and Indigenous rights. She earned her law degree from the University of Alberta in 2003 and has been a member of the Law Society of the Northwest Territories since 2005.
Before returning to serve her community, Chief Rabesca-Zoe worked with the Indigenous-focused law firm Pape Salter Teillet, where she focused on advancing Indigenous legal and governance issues. She played an instrumental role in representing the Tłı̨chǫ Nation during the landmark 2003 Tłı̨chǫ Land Claims and Self-Government Agreement and later served as Lead Counsel during the negotiation of the Tłı̨chǫ Devolution Agreement on lands and resources.
She has since held several senior positions within the Tłı̨chǫ Government, including Director of Planning and Partnerships, Laws Guardian, and Executive Officer. Chief Rabesca-Zoe continues to provide strong leadership rooted in law, governance, and the advancement of Tłı̨chǫ self-determination.
Craig Weichel

Craig Weichel (BA Hons, Wilfrid Laurier University, 1994; MA, McMaster University, 1996) joined the Consulate General of Canada in Seattle in September 2024.
As Canada’s Consul General to the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska, Mr. Weichel is responsible for strengthening trade and economic ties; enhancing political, academic and cultural links; and assisting Canadians visiting or living in those four states.
Prior to his arrival in Seattle, Mr. Weichel headed the Environment and Energy program at Canada’s Embassy to the United States in Washington, DC (2019 to 2024). In this capacity, he managed a number of files of importance to Canada-U.S. relations, including cross-border energy infrastructure, critical minerals collaboration, and transboundary environmental issues.
A career Foreign Service officer, Mr. Weichel has also served abroad at Canada’s Embassy in Rome, Italy (2009 to 2013); at the Canadian Delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna, Austria (2002 to 2005); and at Canada’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (2000).
At Headquarters of Global Affairs Canada in Ottawa, Mr. Weichel most recently served as Director of the North Korea Task Force (2018 to 2019) and the Civilian Security Policy and Natural Disaster Response Division (2016 to 2018). He also served as President of the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers from 2007 to 2009.
Born and raised near Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Mr. Weichel enjoys various outdoor pursuits as well as explaining the nuances of Canadian football to Americans.

Editor/Analyst, Exploration InsightsMr. Mazumdar joined Exploration Insights in 2015 and serves as its sole editor. He brings more than two decades of experience across mining analysis, corporate strategy, and exploration, including senior roles at Newmont Corp., Haywood Securities, Canaccord Genuity, and Phelps Dodge. Earlier in his career, he worked as an exploration geologist across South America, Australia, and Canada. He holds graduate degrees in geology, mining, and mineral economics from the University of Alberta, James Cook University, and the Colorado School of Mines.
Lana Eagle
Director, CIMLana is a member of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation and one of Canada’s most respected Indigenous relations strategists. She provides her advisory service through Lana Eagle Consulting. She is well-known in the mineral exploration sector for her depth of knowledge regarding Indigenous engagement, for helping companies to build relationships with Indigenous communities. Her background is in banking, economic development, wealth management and mineral exploration. Lana was a “pioneer” for Indigenous women in being one of the first to Chair a publicly traded junior mineral exploration company. She is a Board member of Geoscience B.C. and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, where she also serves as Co-chair of the Indigenous Affairs Committee. Lana also serves on the board of Kodiak Copper Corp.

Jason Gravelle
CAO, Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it First NationJason Gravelle has been in the role of acting CAO at Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it for nine months but served as Lands Director for many years prior to taking on this role, and before that as a hunting guide in a remote part of ʔakanuxunik̓ territory where he learned valuable lessons and personal values from the wildlife, land and the Ktunaxa knowledge holders who were working there as well. Jason always felt a deep connection to the land, nurtured by childhood days spent outdoors. Guided by honesty and accountability, he ensures transparency in every decision, whether negotiating major projects or making personal choices. Jason places cultural values and community priorities at the forefront, seeking leadership guidance and believing in the power of collaboration. He views partnership between First Nations and industry as a path to mutual benefit when built on trust and respect, striving to create projects that honour both community and heritage.

Hillary has a proven track record of building linkages among Indigenous, government and industry interests.
Hillary is Métis and has been an active member of the urban Indigenous community of Toronto through her volunteer roles at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, Red Sky Performance and the Downie Wenjak Fund.
Hillary graduated from Concordia University in Montreal and the University of Victoria.
