Presented by: MDRU (Mineral Deposit Research Unit)
Location: UBC Robson
This two-day short course explores modern methods for characterizing ore deposits and translating data from core into value-based decisions. Participants will be introduced to cutting-edge approaches in core logging and core sensing, geochemical and spectral analysis, and how our geoscience datasets can be connected to geometallurgy, resource modeling, uncertainty quantification, mine planning, byproduct opportunities and waste handling.
Drawing on case studies and real-world applications, participants will gain practical insight into tools such as emerging technologies, machine learning, value of information (VOI) frameworks, and geometallurgical modeling, while engaging in discussion on the opportunities and limitations of current methods and approaches. The course will be suitable for anyone involved in mineral exploration and mining, bringing together technical geoscience with real-world impact and considerations.
