Alex Zagorevski is a regional geologist with the Geological Survey of Canada, Ottawa (Ph.D. University of Ottawa, 2006). His research focusses on the processes that lead to initiation, development and accretion of intra-oceanic arc systems and ophiolites in the Appalachians and the Canadian Cordillera. Since 2009, he has been leading regional studies in northwestern Cordillera through the Geomapping for Energy and Minerals (GEM) program. His projects focus on the development of Paleozoic and Mesozoic magmatic belts in northern Stikinia, origin and tectonic significance of ophiolites in the Cache Creek and Slide Mountain terranes, and on the tectonic significance of Early Mesozoic sedimentary basins that overlap Intermontane terranes.
