Dr Dave Lawie is Chief Geoscientist at IMDEX, a global mining technology company connecting geoscience, data, and decision-making across the exploration-to-production value chain. With a PhD in Geosciences and Analytics, his career spans international exploration, R&D, and mining innovation. Before joining IMDEX, he held Principal, global geoscience roles with Pasminco and Anglo American and co-founded ioGlobal, a pioneer in geochemistry, geometallurgical consulting, and cloud-based analytics. Under his leadership, ioGlobal developed the ioGAS software and became a globally recognised business before its acquisition by IMDEX in 2012. At IMDEX, Dave integrates technology, geoscience, and financial insight to enhance orebody knowledge (OBK) and apply Value of Information (VoI) frameworks that improve technical confidence and capital efficiency. His current focus is where geology, geopolitics, and sustainability converge, shaping how the industry thinks about critical minerals, resource resilience, and the low-carbon transition.
