Ted Laking was first elected as the MLA for Porter Creek Centre in November of 2025. He was appointed as Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, Minister responsible for the Yukon Development Corporation, and Minister responsible for the Yukon Energy Corporation.
Laking was born and raised in the Yukon and has deep roots in the territory. He is committed to common-sense solutions, addressing challenges like the cost of living, housing, infrastructure, and reliable energy, and ensuring families can thrive in a safe community.
His career reflects a focus on public service, municipal advocacy, and territorial priorities. Laking is a former Whitehorse City Councillor, and during that time, served as the President of the Association of Yukon Communities. He is a former Chief of Staff of the Yukon Party Official Opposition and has worked in the offices of former federal ministers Leona Aglukkaq, John Duncan and Chuck Strahl. Laking is married with two young children.
