Jason Gravelle

CAO, Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it First Nation

Jason Gravelle has been in the role of acting CAO at Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it for nine months but served as Lands Director for many years prior to taking on this role, and before that as a hunting guide in a remote part of ʔakanuxunik̓ territory where he learned valuable lessons and personal values from the wildlife, land and the Ktunaxa knowledge holders who were working there as well. Jason always felt a deep connection to the land, nurtured by childhood days spent outdoors. Guided by honesty and accountability, he ensures transparency in every decision, whether negotiating major projects or making personal choices. Jason places cultural values and community priorities at the forefront, seeking leadership guidance and believing in the power of collaboration. He views partnership between First Nations and industry as a path to mutual benefit when built on trust and respect, striving to create projects that honour both community and heritage.
